Technology has been the sacred devout,

We have dedicated our lives about.

Every twist and every turn,

Has been to get ourselves to this thing we so dearly yearn– Yet we will soon begin to comprehend,

As it is our life, it will be our end.

"The end of the world" seems so far away,

But do not let your thoughts be left astray,

We are closer to it than we would like to admit

There is something so lovely on our resistance to cease to exist.

The Gain Of Words

by Samantha Merchan

We are self-Sabotaging Can't-help-myself Sabotaging What-about-all-this-wealth? Sabotaging If-we-do-this-with-stealth Sabotaging We-won't-need-any-help Sabotaging.

We like to claim that there is no need for the stress That all of these people that cannot fully rest,

Are simply crazy,

Maniacs,

"Some screws loose in the head"

But will they say that when we are all clearly dead?

Their mouths will be shut–

Just like their eyes

While they were trying to disguise the rise of their lies. The sounds of before, the laughter and snickering— Will eventually turn into them all bickering

For some sort of route, a survival plan

That every wise man was trying to demand.

They do not listen to these "lowly lives"

Yet they resort to us when their fear arrives

When they finally realized that their knives cut deeper wounds than they expected And they are still surprised at why they are so detested?

Detested by themselves, And by one another.

Red

They see life with no color

And so they think, “why bother to be the one that dwells? We might as well be saying our farewells.”

Do none of you have any honor?

I would just wish to holler

But even if I did I do not believe they would listen.

They would never relinquish their position.

We finally begin to realize we have always been mere pawns in this game of chess And so, I must speak up, confess,

That I do not think we will be able to clean this mess

That even with all the distress, there is no passing this test.

Technology has always been the sacred devout, We have dedicated our lives about.

Yet we finally comprehend,

As it has been our life, it has been our end.
